There are a number of modules that can be added to COBUS NCAD to expand on or add functionality. The Door and Window modules use NCAD's core utilities as a base but are so comprehensive that they can be considered "Packages" in their own right (and correspondingly they can also be found in the NCAD Packages section). The other modules listed here simply bolt on to your existing version of NCAD, can be used individually, when and as needed, or can be integrated together for sequenced functionality. Automatic Pod Positioning and Autorunner modules working together to load in a list of parts, automatically apply pods and position rails, and finally output a CNC file for each part is a good example of the automation that can be achieved with the various NCAD modules.

COBUS Nesting
COBUS Nesting was designed to achieve the highest efficiency in both material yield and machining time. The parts in a nest can be imported manually or from a partslist such as a CSV. The COBUS Nesting algorithm then gets to work and calculates the best orientation and placement of the... ...parts in the job and how they should be placed on the sheet of material. The result: less time spent routing or manually placing parts andless money going down the drain because of material being wasted. Multiple settings can be determined, to name just a few: Tool optimization, automatic scrap cutting, and small to large part placement in order to reduce part movement due to loss of suction around the perimeter of the router table.

COBUS Autorunner
Automatic batch part postprocessing: An add-on to COBUS NCAD that automates the creation of Postprocessed files from an available list of parts. The parts list can be a .CSV file, a .grp group file, can come from an ERP system or simply reads in all relevant files in a specific folder location. Auturunner processes through the partslist and produces a .fmc file and the corresponding... ...machine code for 1 or multiple machines, for every part in the partslist. Autorunner can be combined with any number of addtional features such as automatic pod placement and run-time diagnostics.

Can be used for both rail-and-pod CNCs as well as flat table routers that use pods for suction. The module will automatically calculate the best position of both the rails and pods for supporting the parts being machined, or in the case of flat table routers with pods, will notify the machine operator which pods should be activated. Outside contours... ...of parts are used to position the pods and rails. Any through cuts or machining that passes through the material are taken into account so that any damage to the pods can be avoided. Output can be provided in pretty much any format: In a report, an image printout or, if supported, written into the Post itself to send positons to the Router.

SolidWorks Interface
The COBUS NCAD SolidWorks Interface bridges the gap that often exists between 3D design and manufacturing: SolidWorks = Good in 3D design but not so great with manufacturing. COBUS has built an NCAD plug-in for SolidWorks that automatically generates and transfers all the necessary part data from a 3D... ...SolidWorks model to COBUS NCAD. NCAD remains machine neutral and can send the interpreted parts and the machining instructions to any machine without any additional effort.
